Partnering with Employees and Others to Improve World Health
To help improve health for people around the world, we work in partnership with our employees as well as external groups including health care providers, schools, governments, and non-governmental organizations. Our charitable, volunteer and community programs range from company-wide initiatives to many individual and creative efforts inspired by employees.
We make a special effort to support charitable organizations to which our employees volunteer their time.
The Pfizer Foundation Volunteer Program
Through PVP, Pfizer employees and retirees may apply for a grant to be donated to an organization with which they actively and regularly volunteer. Grants may be up to $1,500: most grants are $1,000; as part of the Pfizer Foundation Children's Health Initiative, an additional $500 is provided to organizations that support the health and well-being of children.
Examples of eligible recipient organizations include schools, hospitals, museums, community health organizations, libraries, performing arts groups and agencies serving the elderly. PVP grants are made at the discretion of the Pfizer Foundation and must fulfill the following guidelines:
- The employee or retiree must volunteer at least six hours per month for at least six months preceding the grant request.
- An eligible institution must be located in the United States and be recognized as a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or be a public school or library.
- Eligible participants include regular full-time or regular part-time U.S. employees, retirees and headquarters foreign residents of Pfizer Inc or any of its wholly owned subsidiaries. New employees are eligible six months from their first day of active employment with Pfizer.
- The employee, retiree or any member of his or her family may not directly or indirectly benefit as a result of the grant.
- Volunteers may request one grant of up to $1,500 for one organization each year. An eligible organization may receive a total of no more than $7,500 from the Pfizer Foundation Volunteer Program in any given year.
- In keeping with Pfizer Foundation's Program policy and guidelines, funds cannot be used to support anti-business organizations or organizations that practice discrimination.
- Grants must be used within one year of receipt.
